Interactivity
allows views and approaches to information in ways both unique
and formerly not possible. An example of this is the Battlefield
Section of the Somme site.
The battle lasted a little more than five months. Most of the
fighting took place on a front no larger than twenty miles. Each
day brought its list of casualties, each day brought a change
in weather, a change--though modest--in front line positions.
The Battlefield Section will allow the user to move along the
timeline of the battle with the details changing according to
the date the user picks. Links to different pieces of material
and different sections of the site will also change. In this way
the user can get an idea of the progress of events in a way he
or she completely controls.
